Nearly a month has passed since my previous blog posting, partially because my motivation has been waxing and waning. I am pleased to report, however, that I was able to run five times this week, including a wonderfully refreshing 7.5 mile jaunt around the Ballantyne area of Charlotte, NC. My husband rode his bicycle beside me, and his company made the run a very pleasant experience (it was chilly outside). We spent the final three miles engaged in a spirited discussion regarding socialized healthcare, and before I knew it, we were already back at the car, ready to load his bicycle for the trip home.
By the way – if you are ever trying to get a Mongoose bike into a Saturn SL trunk, I would strongly recommend removing the front wheel. It’s a pretty futile project otherwise.
Yesterday I also received my very first heart rate monitor! I have to admit that I am quite fascinated by this thing. The satisfaction of typing my workout numbers into my Excel spreadsheet was tremendous.
I suppose the other news to report is that I have “matched” at the University of Washington for my neurology residency, so I will be moving to Seattle in a few months. One of my goals for today is to figure out how to join the Seattle Running Club (or its equivalent).
Happy running this week!
